The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Monday launched a major security operation in the Kpaduma III–Kobi forest, identified as a hideout for kidnappers and bandits.

The move follows a September 15 attack in which gunmen clashed with police, using two female hostages as human shields before fleeing. The victims were rescued, but a vigilante lost his life in the operation.

Officials confirmed the forest connects to Karu, Jikwoyi, Orozo, and Kurudu, making it a strategic corridor for criminal activity. To prevent a resurgence, plans include a 24-hour police post, solar-powered streetlights, and surveillance drones across forests in the FCT.
Residents of Kobi village welcomed the operation, saying insecurity had plagued the area for years, forcing people to abandon daily routes out of fear of attacks.
