In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor described the speculation as a deliberate ploy by political rivals to create confusion among Osun residents. He stressed that Adeleke remains firmly committed to the PDP and has no intention of leaving the party.

The statement noted that Adeleke is focused on delivering governance promises and strengthening party structures in the state, especially as voter registration progresses. According to Rasheed, attempts to link the governor with defection are being fueled by those unsettled by his growing popularity and widespread endorsements.

Supporters were urged to ignore the rumours and continue mobilising for Adeleke’s re-election bid on the PDP platform.

Meanwhile, the PDP in Osun has recently suffered defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC), including lawmakers Wole Oke, Adenigba Fadahunsi, and Olubiyi Fadeyi. Despite these losses, Adeleke insists he remains with the PDP and will not join any other party.
