Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has called on Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as deliberate steps toward repositioning the country.

Kalu made the appeal over the weekend while addressing the 2025/2026 cohort of Nigerians at the Harvard Kennedy School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. He said Tinubu is pursuing a clear economic direction and urged citizens to assess the government’s efforts without political bias.

“Reformers seek knowledge and learning. If you look at the situation now compared to before, with an unbiased lens, you will see the progress,” he told the gathering.

The deputy speaker also canvassed support for the proposed reserved seats bill, which seeks to create special seats for women in the National Assembly and state legislatures. According to him, the legislation is aimed at strengthening inclusivity and giving women more voice in governance.
“What this bill seeks to do is to create a space for women,” Kalu explained, noting that increased female representation would benefit Nigeria’s democratic and developmental journey.
He commended Nigerians abroad, especially those in academic institutions like Harvard, for staying connected to their homeland and showing commitment to contributing to its progress despite living overseas.
