Ondo APC Elders Dismiss Talk Of Rift Between Aiyedatiwa And Tunji Ojo

Elders of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State have denied claims of a rift between Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Meeting under the umbrella of the Ondo Mandate Elders Forum, the leaders said their focus was on party unity and preparations for the 2027 elections.

The elders gathered at the Akure residence of the forum’s chairman, Chief Erastus Alejo, where they resolved that there was no evidence of discord between the two political figures. They described the rumours of a feud as fabrications driven by social media chatter rather than reality.

Facilitator of the forum, Dr. Demola Ijabiyi, said the group’s main goal was to mobilise support for the APC ahead of the next presidential election and ensure President Bola Tinubu secures strong backing from Ondo State. He added that the elders intended to remain politically active by guiding the party, promoting cohesion, and providing a platform for collective action when disputes arise.

The leaders noted that Ondo delivered more than 60 percent of the votes for Tinubu in the last election and expressed confidence that the state could surpass one million votes in 2027. They said their task would be to rally the state’s 1.9 million registered voters in favour of the APC and consolidate the president’s base in the South-West.

The meeting drew a wide array of party stakeholders, including former Chief Judge of the state Justice Sehinde Kumuyi, former Secretary to the State Government Princess Oladunni Odu, former Commissioner Femi Agagu, Senator Yele Omogunwa, and several other influential party figures.

The elders concluded that unity within the APC in Ondo was essential, stressing that their collective efforts would be directed at strengthening the party’s structures and ensuring a decisive win for the president and the party in future elections.
