The scheme, initially scheduled for August, was delayed due to logistics challenges in China. Over 1,000 trucks have now been received by the refinery to kick-start the programme, while more states are expected to be added as additional trucks arrive.

Dangote explained that the initiative is supported by its rollout of compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks to strengthen logistics and cut costs across the fuel distribution chain.

“Even though we recently noticed how CNG prices doubled a week ago, that will not deter our 10,000 CNG truck roll-out this year,” the company stated.

The free distribution and price slash come at a time when Nigerians continue to grapple with high fuel costs and rising inflation, raising expectations that the scheme could bring some relief to consumers.
