Governors Call For Sacrifice As CAN Urges Peace At Eid el Maulud

Across the country, governors marked this year’s Eid el Maulud with messages urging Nigerians to embrace the virtues of Prophet Muhammad, stressing sacrifice, tolerance, peace and compassion as a guide for building stronger communities.

The Christian Association of Nigeria also extended greetings to Muslims, calling on national leaders to embrace justice and take steps to ease the hardship facing citizens. In a statement, the association said the celebration should remind all Nigerians of values such as humility, fairness, and devotion, which are essential for national unity.

In Adamawa, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri congratulated Muslims and encouraged them to live by the Prophet’s example of peace, kindness, and humility. He asked citizens to pray for love and unity as the country strives for stability and progress.

Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo described the celebration as an opportunity for reflection, urging tolerance, understanding, and harmony among people of all faiths. He pledged his government’s commitment to inclusiveness and peaceful coexistence.

From Ebonyi, Governor Francis Nwifuru reminded Muslims that the occasion is a time for renewal of faith and commitment to love, peace, and compassion, urging charity and brotherhood during the festivities.

Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq called on Muslims to remain on the path of guidance and avoid divisions. He warned against allowing differences in opinion to create hostility, saying unity was key to preserving the Prophet’s message.

Enugu Governor Peter Mbah urged citizens to let the Prophet’s humility, courage, compassion, and sense of justice guide their conduct, describing those values as vital for Nigeria’s progress.

Kogi Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo congratulated Muslims in his state and beyond, noting that the Prophet’s life is a reminder of virtues such as patience, humility, and compassion, which form the foundation of a just society.

In Abuja, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike encouraged residents to use the celebration to strengthen unity and compassion across the capital’s diverse communities. He commended their commitment to peace, which he said has supported his administration’s achievements.

The National Orientation Agency also joined in extending greetings, with Director General Lanre Issa-Onilu urging Nigerians to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings of forgiveness and peaceful living, while upholding the rule of law.

House of Representatives Speaker Abbas Tajudeen congratulated Muslims nationwide, describing the Prophet as an example of holiness, discipline and service to humanity. He said Nigeria could overcome its economic and social difficulties if leaders and citizens alike lived by these values.
