President Bola Tinubu has left Abuja for a 10-day working vacation in Europe as part of his 2025 annual leave.

His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the trip in a statement released on Thursday.

The President is expected to divide his time between France and the United Kingdom before returning to Nigeria at the end of the leave. The trip, which officially started on September 4, is his second annual leave since assuming office in May 2023.

Tinubu had previously embarked on a two-week working vacation in October 2024, also in the United Kingdom. That trip marked his first official leave as president. In both cases, he did not transfer presidential duties to the vice president, unlike some of his predecessors who temporarily handed over power during their absences.
The Presidency explained that the leave is a working vacation, suggesting that the President will continue to attend to official duties while abroad. Tinubu is expected to engage in strategic consultations and private engagements during the period before resuming full duties in Nigeria.
The announcement of the trip comes as his administration continues to push reforms aimed at stabilising the economy, strengthening revenue growth, and addressing national security concerns.
