Ex CPC Members Backs Tinubu For 2027 Election

Founding members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) have declared their support for President Bola Tinubu’s re election bid in 2027.

Led by former Nasarawa State governor Senator Tanko Al Makura, the delegation met Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, pledging to mobilise nationwide support through the All Progressives Congress (APC). Al Makura, now chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), praised Tinubu for stabilising the economy, sustaining peace, and honouring the legacy of their late leader, former President Muhammadu Buhari.

He described Tinubu and Buhari as visionaries whose 2010 political alliance laid the foundation for equity, justice, and good governance, assuring that the CPC family would consolidate Tinubu’s reforms and the APC’s legacy beyond 2027.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, also pledged the bloc’s loyalty, stressing that over 90 per cent of CPC’s pioneer leaders remain united and active. He said members across the country would mobilise at state, local government, and ward levels to deliver Tinubu’s re election.

In his response, President Tinubu announced that his government had achieved its annual revenue mobilisation target by August, eliminating the need for further borrowing. He said non oil revenue was strong, the naira was stabilising, and his administration was focused on building infrastructure, creating jobs, and boosting exports.

On food security, Tinubu unveiled plans for a nationwide mechanisation programme, with farm centres in every region to increase productivity and reduce poverty. He urged his supporters to ignore political distractions, promising reforms anchored on justice, transparency, and prosperity.

The CPC delegation included former ministers, lawmakers, party executives, and women leaders, all reaffirming their loyalty to Tinubu and the APC.
