The Labour Party crisis reached a turning point after the Federal High Court in Abuja ruled that Julius Abure’s tenure as National Chairman has ended.

The court dismissed his case against the Independent National Electoral Commission, saying it lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter.

The ruling followed the Supreme Court’s earlier decision in April which nullified previous recognitions of Abure’s leadership. In its filing, INEC stated that Abure’s tenure, along with the mandate of the National Executive Committee, expired in June 2024.
