Peter Obi has spoken against what he sees as unequal handling of two recent airport incidents involving an Ibom Air passenger and popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, also known as KWAM 1.

The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate expressed concern after Comfort Emmanson, who was involved in a dispute with Ibom Air staff, was swiftly taken to court and sent to Kirikiri Correctional Centre. In contrast, KWAM 1, accused of delaying a ValueJet flight and causing disruption, has not faced arrest or charges.

Obi said the difference in treatment raises questions about fairness in the justice system. He noted that Emmanson remains in detention while the other case appears to have drawn leniency, with calls from some officials for forgiveness.

He also criticised the reported public humiliation of Emmanson by security officers, describing it as an abuse of authority. Obi said such actions show deep flaws in the way justice is applied in the country.
The former Anambra governor stressed that justice should not depend on wealth, status, or political influence. He argued that selective enforcement of laws damages public trust and makes the system appear biased.
Obi urged the Minister of Aviation and other relevant agencies to explain why the two incidents were handled differently. He called for equal and fair treatment in all cases to ensure that justice in Nigeria serves everyone the same way.
