Ondo Leaders Meet To Boost APC Unity And Governance

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State gathered at the Government House in Akure on Saturday for the first meeting of the Governor’s Advisory Council, hosted by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The session was aimed at building party strength and improving governance as the state moves towards the 2027 elections.

The council brings together influential party members to give guidance to the governor on political and administrative matters. It is led by former NNPC board chairman and ex-APC national vice chairman, Chief Pius Akinyelure, with National Vice Chairman (South West) Honourable Isaac Kekemeke serving as secretary.

The closed-door gathering was attended by prominent party figures, including Akinyelure, Kekemeke, and other council members. Discussions focused on state development, party growth, and fostering collaboration between government and the APC’s leadership ahead of future polls.

The meeting took place shortly after the governor held a caucus session with party members and before the wider stakeholders’ gathering. Participants spoke positively about the talks, describing them as productive and aimed at creating stronger links between the party and government.

Speakers at the event expressed support for the governor’s approach, noting his inclusive style and willingness to work with all party members, regardless of past political differences. They also praised his administration’s record in paying salaries, avoiding new debts, and settling part of old obligations.

Council members agreed that the governor remains the undisputed leader of the APC in the state. They resolved that support groups can operate but must complement the party rather than compete with it. Calls were made for broader consultations with stakeholders and more collective decision-making at the local level.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to unity, stability, and progress for both the party and the state government. Attendees included former deputy governor Ali Olanusi, retired General Funso Oyenehin, Ambassador Sola Iji, Chief Bode Sunmonu, Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, Dr. Ayodeji Oyedele, and Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti.
