Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has removed most members of his cabinet, bringing an immediate end to their roles in the State Executive Council. The decision, announced late Sunday, takes effect without delay.

The announcement came through the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, who confirmed that commissioners and special advisers affected by the decision must hand over to the most senior civil servants in their ministries, departments, or agencies. The move marks a major change in the state’s leadership structure.

Not all members of the cabinet are leaving. The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice will keep his position, as will the commissioners for Health and Human Services, Agriculture and Food Security, Education, Works, and Trade, Investment, Industry and Cooperatives. Two special advisers, one overseeing Special Education and Social Inclusion and another in charge of Lands, Survey and e-GIS, are also staying in their roles.

In addition, directors general who are part of the council will remain in office. These include the heads of the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery, SDGs and Project Monitoring, and the Bureau of Public Procurement. Their positions are not affected by the shake-up.
Governor Oyebanji expressed appreciation to those leaving for their contributions to the state and wished them well in their future paths. The changes signal a possible new direction for the administration as it enters its next phase of governance.
