PDP Tells Fayose Leave The Party,You Are a Betrayer

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has called on former Governor Ayodele Fayose to leave the party, accusing him of betrayal and persistent public attacks.

The call followed Fayose’s appearance on a Channels TV programme where he declared the PDP dead in Ekiti and nationally, saying the party had lost its soul and could no longer win elections.

Reacting, the PDP’s Caretaker Committee Chairman in Ekiti, Dare Adeleke, issued a strong-worded statement published by Sunday Tribune, slamming Fayose for “consistently undermining” the party despite benefiting from it.

Adeleke said Fayose’s recent praise and support for the ruling APC in the state was the latest in a long list of betrayals, claiming the ex-governor’s grudge stems from his failed attempt to seize control of PDP structures in Ekiti.

“Fayose wanted to hijack the local government executives, and when he was stopped, he turned on the party,” Adeleke said. “He keeps calling the PDP a dead party, yet he refuses to leave. If the party is dead, what is he still doing here?”

Adeleke also questioned Fayose’s political strength, noting that no PDP ward or LGA chairman has defected with him. “If he truly had influence, he would have taken them to APC or ADC, but nobody followed him.”

He also criticised Fayose’s open support for President Tinubu, describing it as based on tribal loyalty rather than national interest.

“He said he supported Tinubu because they are both Yoruba men. Is that how a country should run—on tribal alliances?” Adeleke asked.

Despite the internal feud, Adeleke insisted the PDP would bounce back and defeat the APC in the next election. “We will mobilise loyal members, not Fayose’s APC jokers,” he said.

He concluded by calling Fayose the “father and grandfather of betrayal” and dared him to leave the party he continues to ridicule.
