Presidency Slams ADC Over Comments on Buhari’s Burial

The Presidency has sharply criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for accusing President Bola Tinubu’s government of politicising the state burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement released Saturday, presidential spokesperson Sunday Dare described the ADC’s comments as “obnoxious,” “opportunistic,” and “desperate,” accusing the party of seeking attention by “dancing on Buhari’s grave.”

“This is not the first time the ADC has embarrassed itself with hollow, attention-seeking criticisms. The party suffers from an identity crisis and offers nothing but sanctimonious whining,” Dare said.

He insisted that the Tinubu administration gave Buhari a burial marked by dignity and honour, befitting a former Head of State. He added that the opposition, not the government, was the one exploiting the solemn occasion for political gain.

Dare also took aim at other opposition figures, mentioning the appearances of Atiku Abubakar and Nasir El-Rufai at the funeral as part of a “choreographed” move to score political points.

Highlighting Tinubu’s achievements, the presidential aide pointed to the naira’s stabilisation, rising oil production, harmonised exchange rates, renewed electricity in some areas, and key infrastructure projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Ogbia-Nembe Road.

He also cited the rollout of student loans under NELFUND, a new consumer credit scheme, regional development commissions, and increased FAAC allocations.

“These are not press statements. These are results,” Dare said.

He concluded by urging Nigerians to ignore the ADC’s remarks, describing the party as “an outfit gasping for attention” and reaffirmed that Tinubu remains focused on delivering his Renewed Hope Agenda.
