The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming Anambra governorship election, Jude Ezenwafor, was shot on Friday night in Abuja by unidentified gunmen.

Ezenwafor was attacked near Wuse 2 while returning home from an appointment, according to sources. He sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital. Doctors are reportedly preparing him for surgery to remove bullets lodged in his body.

Two others who were with him during the attack were also injured and are being treated.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and the identities of the assailants have not been established. Police investigations are ongoing.

Ezenwafor, a real estate developer based in Abuja, was elected unopposed as the PDP candidate for the November 8, 2025, election in Anambra State. Party insiders say the attack may disrupt campaign activities, depending on the severity of his injuries and how soon he can recover.
