The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has fired back at Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda, saying tackling banditry in the state will be a major focus of its proposed coalition.

Governor Radda had earlier dismissed the newly formed opposition alliance, claiming it was made up of recycled politicians with no real solutions. He said the coalition lacked credibility and offered nothing new to Nigerians.

But in a swift response, Bolaji Abdullahi, a former Minister of Sports and now interim spokesperson for the ADC, accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of abandoning the fight against insecurity in Katsina.

“Governor Dikko Radda wants to know what the coalition will do differently. Good question,” Abdullahi said. “To start with, we will end banditry in his state, a task that the APC government has long given up on.”
He said the ADC and its partners are focused on real solutions and not political rhetoric. Abdullahi stressed that the opposition’s plans are grounded in democratic processes, not force.
“We are not soldiers, we are politicians. We don’t have bullets; we only have the ballots,” he said in a July 9 statement. “When the time comes, we will present our solutions and allow the people to decide.”
The ADC’s remarks come amid renewed criticism of the federal government’s handling of insecurity, especially in the northern states where bandit attacks remain frequent.
