The Oyo State House of Assembly has lifted the suspension of Adedokun Emmanuel, the Chairman of Saki East Local Government, following the submission of a committee report on Tuesday.

The decision was based on findings presented by the Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and State Honours, Hon. Akintunde Olajide. The committee had earlier been assigned to look into a petition seeking urgent intervention in the affairs of the local government under Emmanuel’s leadership.

The committee held meetings with key stakeholders, including the Acting Chairman Rasaq Moruf, Leader of the Council Adebayo Wahab, Head of Local Government Administration Raji Abiola, Director of Finance Idowu, and Emmanuel himself. These engagements allowed the committee to assess the claims raised and recommend a course of action.

The lawmakers ruled that Emmanuel be reinstated as the substantive chairman of Saki East, effectively bringing an end to his suspension. The Assembly also directed the acting chairman and the vice chairman, who had stepped in during the suspension, to return to their original roles as vice chairman and leader of the council.

This development comes after the Assembly received a formal petition on March 18, 2025, demanding an investigation into the running of the local council. The petition prompted the Assembly to instruct its local government committee to conduct a detailed inquiry.

With this reinstatement, the Assembly signaled the conclusion of its review process, returning normalcy to the leadership of Saki East Local Government.
