A serious road accident on Lagos’ Third Mainland Bridge on Monday left several passengers injured after a commercial bus, popularly known as Danfo, collided with a Toyota Camry and somersaulted multiple times.
The crash occurred just before Adekunle Junction, inward Lagos Island, causing panic among commuters on the busy bridge.
According to a statement from the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), no fatalities were recorded. RRS officers, including patrol teams and bikers, were quickly deployed to the scene to provide first aid and support emergency response efforts.
Personnel from the Adekunle Police Division also joined the rescue operation. Emergency services were mobilised to evacuate the injured and clear the wreckage.
“Several passengers sustained injuries, but no life was lost,” the RRS confirmed. “Vehicular movement has since resumed, and the damaged vehicles have been cleared from the road.”
Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially on major bridges where high speed and recklessness often result in tragic outcomes.
