Defections And Coalitions Won’t Determine 2027 Outcome — Labour Party Chieftain

A former presidential aspirant of the Labour Party (LP), Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, says the ongoing defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the formation of political coalitions under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will not influence the outcome of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement titled “2027 Election and Present Realities”, Joseph criticized the motives behind the recent political realignments, saying they are not driven by national interest but by selfish ambition.

“These people are not coming together because they care for Nigeria,” he said. “They are the same people who pushed the country into this mess, which President Bola Tinubu has now worsened.”

Joseph said 2027 will not be about politicians forming alliances but about the collective will of Nigerians. “The election will not be determined by defectors or coalition builders, but by 200 million Nigerians who are now aware and tired of bad governance,” he added.

He warned Nigerians not to fall for recycled politicians, stressing that the country does not need “aging leaders who want to return to power,” but rather visionary and principled individuals committed to national progress.

Joseph also expressed disappointment over reports linking Peter Obi to the ADC-led coalition, claiming Obi allowed the Labour Party to fall into disarray. “If he couldn’t hold LP together, what will happen when the coalition crashes?” he asked.

He urged citizens to look beyond personalities and focus on leaders with proven integrity, rather than politicians “jumping from one party to another.”

“The only calculation that will work in 2027 is that of Nigerians — not that of underperforming, self-centered politicians,” he concluded.
