A coalition of civil society organisations has strongly condemned the abduction and brutal killing of four-year-old Ayman Abubakar in Sokoto State, calling for swift justice and reinforced child protection measures.

In a joint statement, leaders of the Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL), the Child Protection Network, and the SGBV/Child Protection Response Team described the murder as “a horrific violation of the rights of the child.”

The group issued four key demands: a thorough and transparent investigation, prosecution of all involved, regular public updates, and the strengthening of child protection systems in Sokoto and nationwide.

They also urged the Sokoto State government, traditional leaders, and security agencies to ensure justice is served and child safety made a national priority.
Ayman’s father, Dr. Abubakar, made an emotional appeal for justice, recalling that his son went missing on March 29 after attending evening prayers.
His body was discovered more than seven weeks later, prompting widespread outrage. Several suspects have reportedly been arrested.
The CSOs pledged to monitor the investigation and legal proceedings, vowing to stand firmly with the grieving family.
