Vice President Kashim Shettima has welcomed Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas into the All Progressives Congress, describing the move as deeply personal as the ruling party strengthens its grip in the North East.

The event took place in Jalingo, where party leaders and supporters gathered to receive the governor.

Shettima said the defection had boosted the APC’s standing in the region and expressed hope that governors of Bauchi and Adamawa states would, in time, also realign with the party.

Governor Kefas said his decision was guided by the future of Taraba rather than political gain.
He explained that his move, alongside key government officials and lawmakers, was aimed at opening new paths for development and investment, while backing the vision of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The APC National Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, said the decision marked a turning point for Taraba, noting that the state’s resources could now be better harnessed under the ruling party.
He also appealed to remaining PDP governors to rethink their positions and join what he described as a forward-looking political movement.
