ISWAP Attacks Army Base in Borno
Several Nigerian soldiers were reportedly killed after suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters attacked a military base in Sabon Gari, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Sources said the insurgents stormed the base, set some armoured vehicles on fire and carted away weapons and ammunition during the attack.
The assault was said to have caused heavy damage to military equipment.
As of the time of reporting, the exact number of soldiers k+lled or injured could not be confirmed. Military authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
The attack is the latest in a series of assaults on military formations in parts of Borno State, where insurgent groups continue to target security forces despite ongoing counterinsurgency operations.
