APC Leader Blames Governor Adeleke Over Akinlalu Killings

A political storm has erupted in Osun State as a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Abdulrasheed Muideen, condemned Governor Ademola Adeleke over the recent killings in Akinlalu, Ife North Local Government Area.

The killings, which involved operatives of the Amotekun Corps, have sparked outrage after the police arrested 25 members of the security outfit for their alleged role in the incident. The arrests were carried out by a special team from Abuja at the Amotekun base in Osogbo and the Ife Central Division in Ile-Ife, where several operatives were detained and the facilities sealed.

Reacting to the development, Abdulrasheed accused the governor of losing control of governance and relying on Amotekun to cover up his administration’s failures. He claimed that Adeleke’s leadership had disconnected him from the people, alleging that despite increased federal allocations, the state was still plagued by poor infrastructure, failing health services, and inadequate local government development.

The APC leader, popularly known as Romeo, said Adeleke’s performance had weakened his support base ahead of the 2026 governorship election. He described the governor as being more focused on public showmanship than addressing the needs of the people, saying the administration’s achievements were overshadowed by inefficiency and neglect.

The Akinlalu tragedy has deepened political tension in the state, with residents demanding justice for victims allegedly killed during the Amotekun operation. Witnesses from the community claimed that the security personnel opened fire indiscriminately, leading to multiple deaths, including those of young residents.

While the police investigation continues, the state government has yet to release an official statement addressing the killings or the arrests. However, the incident has reignited debates about the accountability of regional security outfits and the state’s handling of law enforcement.

As political figures trade blame, families in Akinlalu continue to mourn their losses, waiting for answers and justice amid growing calls for transparency in the ongoing probe.
